Organizational Overview & Mandate
Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) is a premier Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the administrative control of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. Headquartered at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan, Seminary Hills, Nagpur (CIN: U13100MH1972GOI016078), MECL serves as the nodal bridge between initial geoscientific discovery and commercial exploitation of minerals.
MECL operates across three distinct operational project streams:
Promotional Programs
Mineral exploration programs funded directly by the Government of India through the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) and Ministry of Mines.
Contractual Exploration
High-precision commercial exploration and drilling for major public and private sector enterprises including Coal India, NTPC, NMDC, and SAIL.
State Government Initiatives
Bilateral exploration partnerships with mineral-rich State Governments to delineate and quantify regional mineral assets for public auction.
